Ceramic
- Our ceramic bands are made of a hi-tech aerospace material.
- Some benefits of ceramic include permanently polished finish, lightweight, colorfast, and heat resistant.
- Hypo-allergenic.
- Clean with soap and hot water, alcohol, or a steam cleaner. Do not use any other cleaners or chemicals for cleaning your ring. The potential for cracking does exist, so keep your ring away from extreme forces.
Cobalt
- Cobalt is made from the bio-friendly material that is used in hip replacements. This durable metal stays white without re-plating.
- It has a high scratch resistance, and is of medium-weight.
- Hypo-allergenic.
- Cobalt should be cleaned with mild soap and water then gently dried with a soft cloth. Do NOT expose to harsh chemicals like chlorine.
Titanium
- Our titanium bands are made of 99.9% pure surgical implant quality titanium. This lightweight, yet durable metal has a silvery gray or black color.
- Hypo-allergenic
- Titanium should be cleaned with a steam cleaner or hot water and soap to remove dirt embedded in diamond bezels or between links. Ultrasonic cleaners may be used on titanium jewelry without gemstones.
Tungsten
- Tungsten rings are forged together at 1,400 degrees Celsius to form rings that are virtually indestructible. This metal is scratch resistant and always looks permanently polished.
- Clean with soap and hot water, alcohol, or a steam cleaner. Do not use any other cleaners or chemicals for cleaning your ring. The potential for cracking does exist, so keep your ring away from extreme forces.
Soha Diamond Co. only uses 100% Certified recycled precious metals, including 14k and 18k gold and platinum.
This guide serves as an educational overview of precious metals, and why they play such a significant role, as they are one of the two major physical components of fine jewelry (precious metals and gemstones).
Precious Metals
Gold
- Gold is the most malleable of the precious metals, yet also quite heavy. Did you know that one ounce of gold can be drawn out into a wire thread more than 50 miles long? The closer it is to 24k (pure gold), the softer it is and richer the color. Gold, when alloyed with copper or nickel, makes it stronger and therefore more durable to wear as jewelry.
- Other benefits of alloying gold with copper or nickel include the reduction of cost to the consumer, and altering the appearance to improve the color or luster.
- When alloyed with nickel, and rhodium plating, it will whiten the gold to produce white gold. When alloyed with copper, it will redden the gold, to produce rose gold.
Platinum
- It is a true white metal and requires no rhodium plating, and that means lower maintenance costs.
- Polished platinum will develop a patina over time, which is often a desirable attribute. You can however buff the platinum, which will revive it to its original luster.
-
It's the heaviest metal (more dense than gold), with the most superior strength. Nothing holds a diamond more securely over time than a platinum head.

Did you know that platinum was the chosen setting for the Hope Diamond?
