Q: How long have you two been together, and how did you meet?
A: William and I have been together for about 4 years now, and although we both went to the same college, LSU, we actually met on Bumble! We officially started hanging out in person toward the beginning of 2020 and have been inseparable ever since:)
Q: Tell us your proposal story!
A: At the time, I was nannying for an amazing family. I’m super close with the mom, and she helped William plan everything! On a Friday, she told me we were going pick apples at her parents’ house. When we got there, William was waiting on the balcony, surrounded by candles and flowers, and he asked me to marry him. It was the most romantic, thoughtful, and intentional day. My mom was able to be there, too, and overall, it was one of the best days of my life.
Q: As a couple, what drew you to Soha Diamond Co.?
A: To me, the allure of Soha Diamond Co. was being able to design my engagement ring with William. We had so much fun working with Aubree and Soha, they truly made my dream engagement ring come to life. We never felt any pressure throughout the whole process, and we were able to take our time. Not once did we feel rushed, and Aubree and Soha truly made our engagement ring experience the most special.
Q: What made you want to design your own engagement ring?
A: When we first started talking about getting engaged, I knew that I would be receiving an heirloom wedding band from my dad. I wanted to make sure that this band would fit flush against my engagement ring. So, once we saw that Soha Diamond Co. was able to pretty much customize any ring, I knew I wanted to work with them. I felt even more confident once I met Soha and Aubree! An added bonus to our whole experience was that I knew my engagement ring would not be just another ring pulled from the shelf. It, literally, was made for me!
Q: Did you have a specific vision in mind, or did the design change over time?
A: From the start, I knew I wanted an emerald cut, but I had no idea what else I liked. Being able to see and try on different ring designs featuring an emerald center stone helped narrow down my choices so much. I did change my mind so many times, but in the end, once I saw my current ring in Aubree and Soha’s design software, I fell in absolute love. Soha even helped us find a slightly elongated emerald, and I could not imagine a more perfect diamond for my ring!
Q: What does your engagement ring mean to you?
A: Each day when I put my engagement ring on, I think about how William and I created it together. It makes it feel even more special. To me, my engagement ring is not just a symbol or sign of our love, it was a once in a lifetime experience that we got to do together.
Q: What is one piece of advice you would give to a couple that may be looking to design their own engagement ring?
A: My advice would be: DO IT! If you’re worried that the proposal won’t be a surprise, I’m telling you it will be! I knew what the ring would look like, but seeing it for the first time in person, as William got down on one knee, was an indescribable feeling. Designing my own engagement ring did not take away from that! We will also be designing William’s wedding band with Soha and Aubree, and for any jewelry I ever need, Soha Diamond Co. will be where I get it!
